What is Abuse
 
     
  Definition of Family Violence  
  Family violence is about one person having power and control over another person in an intimate relationship.  
     
  There are many types of Violence:  
 
  • Physical
  • Elder
  • Verbal
  • Abandonment
  • Spiritual
  • Child Abuse
  • Emotional
  • Financial
  • Sexual
  • Psychological
  • Neglect
 
  Children are victims of Famly Violence when they hear it, see it, or experience it physically, emotionally or sexually.  
     
Children who experience abuse at home are more likely to suffer from:
  • withdrawn of agitated behaviour
  • fear or anxiety
  • anger or irritability
  • depression or hopelessness
  • nightmares and difficulty falling asleep
  • low self-esteem
