  Mission Statement  
 

The Chrysalis Program will provide a long-term, safe, and supportive environment for women and their children who are escaping family violence.

 
     
  Second Stage Housing  
 
  • 7 self-contained 2 or 3 bedroom fully furnished suites including furniture, linens, dishes and utensils
  • Convenient access to schools and other essential services
  • Outdoor playground
  • The Chrysalis Program follows income support guidelines for rent, of the Alberta Provincial Government.
 
  Objectives  
 
  • Provide safe accommodations so that families do not have to return to their abusive environment
  • Provide counselling so that families have the opportunity to heal from the devastating effects of family violence
  • Increase family's well-being and self-sufficiency
  • Increase family's ability to develop positive coping skills
  • Increase woman's ability to set realistic goals
 
  Expected Outcomes  
 
  • Increase awareness of abuse and healthy relationship
  • Progress on Personal Goals
  • Increased awareness and ability to access community resources
  • Increased knowledge and skills in areas of relationships, personal responsibility, self-esteem, assertiveness, communication and coping skills
  • Increased knowledge and skills in parenting and effects of family violence on children
  • Children increase coping skills to deal with the effects of violence; increased self-worth; increased understanding of non-violent behavior.
 
  Services and Programs (participation in programming is an essential component)  
 
  • 6-12 month accommodation
  • Individual and group sessions
  • Counselling services and referrals
  • Family Violence Education
  • Basic Life Skills Programming
  • Access to Educational Programs
  • Child & Teen Support Group Sessions
  • Collective Kitchens
  • Follow-up support services for up to 6 months after graduating from the program
 
  Entrance Criteria  
 
  • Committed to change current life situation
  • Participate in the programming
  • Meet with Coordinator once a week
  • Care for and respect the apartment unit
